About

Mission

The mission of the Office of Graduate Education (OGE) is to support students in achieving professional success through the coordination and collaboration of efforts between advisors, mentors, departments, and academic schools.

Vision

The Office of Graduate Education provides strategic leadership, guidance, and support to Rensselaer’s graduate students. We work with schools, departments, and current students on academic and overall graduate experience matters. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment that nurtures academic success and prepares students to become knowledge leaders in their fields.

Office and People

Our office works closely with the departments’ graduate programs directors and administrators to process transactions related to academic progress, financial aid, and changes in the students’ status. The student services group within OGE serves as the point of contact to the departments in processing requests. We also have a dedicated staff member for supporting applications to competitive scholarships and fellowships. In addition, specific members of Finance, Student Life, and Admissions work closely with OGE to support graduate students’ matters. Finally, the graduate ombuds is an impartial conflict resolution practitioner who provides confidential and informal assistance to graduate students.
