The Statement of Relationship between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Social Fraternities and Sororities at Rensselaer
Rensselaer acknowledges the contributions of the Greek system to the development of its students and the role it plays in enhancing positive relations with the community at large. The Greek community acknowledges the encouragement and support it receives from Rensselaer. Both entities recognize the importance of fostering, supporting, and initiating programs to perpetuate this mutually beneficial tradition. Therefore, we have forged this document as an expression of our resolve to achieve greater excellence and new strength in this relationship, while preserving the rights, independence, and integrity of Rensselaer and the Greek community.
The Greek Life Commons Agreement
The Greek Life Commons Agreement is designed to extend to Greek Life the opportunity to be part of the innovative CLASS Initiative at Rensselaer. To actively engage students in their Sophomore-Year Experience, this agreement between the Institute and member organizations ensures that those students who reside in Greek housing during their sophomore year will engage in the same quality experience as their peers in the residential commons.
The Social Event Management Manual (SEMM)
The Social Event Management Manual (SEMM) exists to provide chapters, alumni, and staff with resources, education, and compliance expectations for chapters of the Greek Life Commons at Rensselaer who wish to host a social event with alcohol safely for their members and guests.
Greek Life 5 Star Accreditation and Awards
The Rensselaer Greek Life Commons annually recognizes outstanding chapters at the Greek Awards of Excellence. All chapters are required to submit a 5 Star Standards Accreditation and Awards of Excellence packet which will help them apply for awards and provide assistance with identifying areas of strength and improvement.

This is the main governing document of the Panhellenic Council at Rensselaer, a student organization that governs women’s sororities and fraternities.
