Ryan comes to us from Union College, where he served as the Assistant Vice President for Campus & Community Living & Learning bringing with him over 20 years of academic, enrollment, and student affairs experience, Ryan has spent much of his career developing residential experiences, educating students through the conduct process, serving as an academic adviser, and creating inclusive spaces.
As a strategic leader responsible for the development and alignment of the student experiences on Union’s residential campus, from the first year through graduation, he helped to create a campus-wide residential curriculum. He has a proven commitment to building strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Aaron Youmans
Associate Dean of Student Intervention and Support

Aaron joins the Dean of Students Office from his time working in the Office of Student living and learning bringing with him a wealth of experience in Student Intervention and Crisis Management addressing incidents of bias while actively promoting a campus experience that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout campus.
The Associate Dean of Student Intervention and Support, is responsible for providing support and leadership to the student intervention network through incident intervention, case management oversight, supporting each team in their regular meetings, and responding to student concerns and complaints reported through the online centralized reporting portal. Aaron will also assist in developing and implementing programs in support of the student experience as presented through the Clustered Learning Advocacy and Support for Students(CLASS)platform. The Associate Dean will lead the Bias Assessment and Response Team (BART), serve as a judicial hearing officer within the Rensselaer Student Judicial System, and act as a liaison to internal and external constituencies for the Dean of Students Office.
Erica Hoerz
Director, Student Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct

Erica joins the Dean of Students Office from her time working at SUNY Cobleskill having served as the Director of Student Conduct and Title IX coordinator. She brings with her 10 years of experience in Higher Education overseeing judicial affairs and sexual misconduct while fostering interpersonal relationships with the student body promoting restorative justice and development.
The Director is responsible for the fair and consistent application of policies and procedures to students’ behavior to ensure a community that respects the dignity and right of all persons to reach their highest potential. The Director, through Clustered Learning, Advocacy and Support for Students (CLASS) develops programs and services that promote student safety and success, the pursuit of knowledge, respect for self and others, global citizenship, personal accountability and integrity, and ethical development.
